Allstate Agrees to $25 Million Settlement and Consumer-Friendly Plan in California Auto Insurance Lawsuit

On behalf of a class of California auto insurance policy consumers, Mehri & Skalet, along with co-counsel Tycko & Zavareei LLP and Berger & Montague, achieved a settlement with Allstate for $25 million and an agreement to create a new plan for approval by the state insurance commissioner that may save California consumers millions of dollars each year going forward. The case began in 2016 and alleged that Allstate “price optimized” California insurers by unfairly considering its policyholders’ willingness to tolerate a price increase when setting rates in both California. On December 4, California U.S. District Judge Yvonne Gonzalez Rogers gave the settlement preliminary approval.
