M&S represented a class of over 500 women who worked for the Federal Bureau of Prisons’ Federal Correctional Complex in Coleman, Florida who endured systemic sexual harassment and egregious sexual misconduct directed at them by inmates. The women claimed that the Agency’s failure to take adequate, timely steps to address inmate sexual misconduct caused them to be subjected to a hostile work environment. The parties agreed to a settlement of $20 million and widespread changes to the policies and practices at the Federal Correctional Complex.
