Joanna Wasik

Joanna Wasik is an Associate Attorney at Mehri & Skalet. She litigates before federal district and appellate courts, state trial courts, and in administrative proceedings. Her work at the firm focuses primarily on anti-discrimination cases litigated on a class action basis under federal civil rights laws. She has experience representing clients who have faced discrimination on the basis of gender, pregnancy, race, as well as individuals who have experienced sexual harassment. Ms. Wasik also represents prominent Iranian-American organizations and individuals in constitutional litigation challenging the federal government travel ban.

In addition, Ms. Wasik works in the firm’s consumer protection, qui tam/whistleblower, and fair housing practice areas.

Prior to joining Mehri & Skalet, Ms. Wasik served as law clerk to Judge J. Curtis Joyner on the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania, and worked as an Associate in the New York office of a multinational Magic Circle firm.

Ms. Wasik graduated magna cum laude from Georgetown Law in 2012. While in law school she served as a Managing Editor of the Georgetown Journal of International Law, a Legal Research and Writing Fellow, and a Global Law Scholar. She was also a member of the Georgetown Human Rights Institute’s Fact-Finding Mission in 2010-2011.

Prior to attending law school, Ms. Wasik graduated magna cum laude from Amherst College, with a B.A. in political science. She lives in Arlington, Virginia with her husband, son, and their dog.
