Mehri & Skalet is proud to announce that Joshua Karsh and Cleveland Lawrence III — both of whom were Of Counsel to the firm — have become partners in the firm, effective immediately.
Josh, who opened the firm’s Chicago office last year, is a seasoned trial and appellate lawyer with more than 30 years of experience representing individuals, litigation classes with thousands of class members, non-profits, corporations, and sovereign nations in a wide variety of complex litigation matters. Cleveland, who is based in Washington, D.C. and co-chairs the firm’s Whistleblower Rights practice group, has been a prominent voice within the False Claims Act and qui tam community for more than a decade and is a former executive director of Taxpayers Against Fraud, the trade association for whistleblower attorneys.

Partner Ellen Eardley has relocated to southern Illinois minutes away from St. Louis, Missouri. Ellen will continue to co-lead the firm’s civil rights practice and to offer diversity and inclusion consulting services as part of the Working IDEAL network.
A native Illinoisan who also spent several years as the Assistant Vice Chancellor for Civil Rights & Title IX at the University of Missouri, Ellen plans to deepen her connections in the bistate area and to bring civil rights cases that benefit local communities. In the coming months, Ellen hopes to meet with non-profit leaders, racial justice advocates, community organizers, unions, government entities, and small businesses to discuss their strategic diversity and inclusion needs. Ellen and partner Josh Karsh will work together to enhance Mehri & Skalet’s impact in the Midwest.
